Very well. But the first thing you'll need to know is that I keep late hours. I will rarely be awake before noon.

Yes. Generally in the evening. I will be working afternoons for a little while, also.

[She's taken on some extra shifts while Tris is recovering.]

I thought so. Jon's mentioned you. I worked in a library for- god, years. It's more interesting than it sounds, isn't it?

It's a way to pass the time. I only took the job to keep any more idiots from trying to burn the place down.

They do. And seeing as it is one of the very few enjoyable distractions on this hellish vessel, I take protecting it personally.

Are you working in the library now? I haven't seen you.

I'm not. [ he figures it's good for him and jon to have some level of space apart on what is ultimately a pretty small barge. ] I'm supervising laundry services. It's - certainly something.

Could we meet before one of your shifts? I'll bring mine and Jon's dog.

[Laundry. Oh right. Some people use the facilities. She prefers to handwash her own usual attire of aged linen loincloth and halter top. It's a pain. But she hasn't branched out much in style since she got to the Barge.]

Very well. But why will you have Jon's dog?

[ martin, personally, is delighted to be able to wear t-shirts and jeans all day every day. ]

[ he raises both of his own eyebrows in return, expression neutral. ]

Is that a problem?

I don't care what you humans do with one another. As long as I don't have to hear about it.

Have meals together and argue, mostly, but I'll try not to share all of that sordid titillation with you. You're fine with dogs then?

I have nothing against dogs, except that they deserve better masters. Bring her, it will improve the company.
